Eligibility Requirements:

1.  You must be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien, eighteen (18) years of age or older and a legal resident of Texas. If you are a resident of another state, you must be licensed by that state as a real estate broker.

2.  You must satisfy 1 of the 2 real estate experience conditions:  

    a.  You must have at least 2 years experience as an active licensed Texas real estate salesperson within 8 years directly prior to your application for a broker's license.

or

    b.  If you are licensed as a broker in another state, you must have least 2 years experience as an active licensed real estate salesperson within 3 years directly prior to your application for a broker's license.

Steps for Getting Your Broker's License:

Step #1:  Make sure you meet and/or complete all of the eligibility requirements listed above.
 
Step #2:  Take the Real Estate Courses offered at Hall Real Estate Institute to fulfill the education requirements.
TEXAS REAL ESTATE LICENSE ACT: Requires applicants for the broker's license to complete 60 semester (900 classroom) hours of real estate or related courses. Of the 60 semester (900 classroom) hours, 18 semester (270 classroom) hours must be in CORE real estate. These CORE courses must include:

Law of Contracts

Law of Agency
Fair Housing and Anti-discrimination are included in our Principles 101 & 102 courses. 
In addition to the 18 semester (270 classroom) hours, you must take an additional 42 semester (630 classroom) hours in courses acceptable to the Commission.

We offer these additional 30 hour courses towards the education requirements:

Step #3:  Send a copy of your transcript and/or copies of your certificates, with an evaluation form and $30 to the Texas Real Estate Commission.

REQUEST FOR EVALUATION OF EDUCATION DOCUMENTS.

This must be done before making an application for licensing.  Students may enroll in Hall Real Estate courses before an assessment is made.
Step #4:  After you have completed all of your real estate education requirements, send the application for broker to the Texas Real Estate Commission.

Broker License Application

Once TREC approves your application, you will receive a Candidate Information Brochure (CIB).  This is required to take the examination.

Step #5: Take and pass the examination for the broker's license.  

The examination has 2 parts:

1)  National Portion (105 minutes), and

2)  State Portion (45 minutes)
